Dr. Francisca Acheampong Adoma has been awarded the highly competitive ARUA–Carnegie–Mastercard Early Career Research Fellowship.
This positions her among the inaugural beneficiaries of the continental research initiative aimed at strengthening Africa’s scientific leadership.
She has been assigned to the Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Food Systems at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, where she will undertake a six-month fellowship beginning 1 January 2026.
Her host supervisor will be Professor Frans Swanepoel, Director of the Centre of Excellence, who will oversee her research placement and mentorship during the programme.
As one of the first cohort of recipients, Dr. Adoma is expected to actively participate in the Centre’s research activities and contribute to advancing the mission of the network of Centres of Excellence.
The fellowship, jointly supported by ARUA, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, and the Mastercard Foundation aims to boost research capacity among early-career African scholars, accelerate knowledge production on the continent and build long-term collaborative networks.
